    Record your performance

In creator mode, click the record button and then switch to the game to play, or switch to the game first and press F8 to start. If a backing track is loaded, start with F8 in the game; if you click the record button in DreamLyra, the backing track does not play. When you finish, click the stop button or press F8, then save the .mid file. The backing track loops and is recorded into the file along with your playing; if you only want to record keyboard input, first click the ✕ next to the backing track name to clear it. A saved recording automatically becomes the backing track, so clear it before you record again, too.

Things to know

  • F8 starts or stops recording in creator mode. It plays or pauses in MIDI file mode.
  • MIDI records note information, not game audio or microphone sound.
  • The save dialog opens only if notes were recorded. If no device is found, connect an available MIDI keyboard first.
